About Me

Tony Grove Lake - with Buttercup (Left) and Piddles(Right)
Hey there! Welcome to my blog about me! So this is me. I live a pretty normal life. Nothing super exciting but I like it. I am writing this blog for a variety of reasons. 1. I wanted to who is bored enough to read my jibber-jabber ;) 2. I don't keep a journal so I thought this could work as some sort of substitute and 3. I wanted to use the blog to help me appreciate my life more. You know how easy it is to forget the good and funny things that happen to you in life? Well its nice to be able to look back and remember them.

So here is a little about me.

I was born and raised in Sandy, Utah were I made some great friends and made some wonderful memories. While I don't keep in contact with all of them I haven't forgot them because of how they impacted my life.

I graduated high school in 2004 and spent 2 awesome years attending Southern Utah University. In January of 2007 I left good ole' Utah to serve an LDS Mission in New York City South Mission (my area comprised Brooklyn, Queens, LI, and Staten Island) for a year and a half. I returned the summer of 2008 and switched to the University of Utah where I completed my education in Exercise and Sport Science with the emphasis in Fitness Leadership.

Near the end of my time as an undergrad I still felt lost and confused as to what I wanted to do and was scared to enter the real world so I applied and got into the U of U's masters program in Exercise Science. I will be graduating (crossing my fingers while knocking on wood) this December or early spring.

Backing up a little ways. In June of 2009 I met my (then co-worker) significant other, Joshua David Black. He was working at Saturn the car dealership for the previous 5 or so years and I started there as a receptionist. After 6 months of yelling at him to answer the phone over the intercome we started running together and well... eventually decided we could tolerate each other enough for the rest of our lives so we might as well get hitched. ;)

We married in the Salt Lake Temple on New Years Eve at 9 something in the morning of 2010. It was fun starting the New Year as a slave ;) or so Josh thinks... I wouldn't know really. We now live in SLC valley with 2 dogs - Buttercup and Piddles - 2 cats - Trent and Owly - and 5 chickens.

My current goals in life include:

1. Driving Josh mad.
2. Digging us further and further in debt
3. Driving Josh mad

Ok... so maybe those aren't REALLY my goals and that is just what I naturally do. My real goals are these:

1. Build a coaching business for endurance sport athletes.
2. Move to Alaska and Maine and somewhere in between
3. Spend some time in Europe and South/central America
4. Eventually be a big girl and get a full time job or make enough money to start pulling my weight around here.

So as previously mentioned, I'm a coach. I coach endurance sport athletes mainly and have quite a bit of formal education and training as well as a diverse background in a wide variety of training models. I am sure you saw the page entitled "Training and Coaching packages" well here is a little info off of my resume.

Here is a little about my experiences and certifications.

- HFS- Health Fitness Specialist, which means that I'm certified through the American College of Sports Medicine to be a fitness trainer for both healthy and disease/rehabilitation populations.

-USAT Level 1- USA Triathlon Coaching Cert. I certified through the Olympic Triathlon Committee to be a coach :) yay!

-RYT 200hr- Yoga Alliance 200hr Yoga instructor certification.
